Pay nothing now and you’ll pay later

Choosing a chair is more difficult than you think, and going on price alone is a major mistake . You could damage your back for the sake of a few pounds. You wouldn’t buy cheap trainers if you were going to wear them every day, so why sit in something that could harm you. Most cheap chairs have a basic permanent contact mechanism, which allows you to lock the backrest in your chosen position, but not much else.

A syncronomic mechanism is the best one to look for, as it allows you to use the chair as intended, with the backrest moving with you whilst offering a good level or support. The seat base also moves in relation to the backrest, providing you with greater comfort. Even if you use your chair for a few hours a day, you really should think about your back and buy the best chair you can afford. Cheap, unsupportive chairs lead to bad posture which, given a few years, can lead to serious back problems.

You can buy a basic operator chair for as little as £40, but don’t expect too much from it. This sort of chair will have a gas ram rated for less than the average weight and designed to fit less than average heights.Overloaded gas rams will fail (the older versions with a valve welded into the side of the ram, used to fail frequently, catapulting the unfortunate user into the air) and don’t expect your retailer to be too sympathetic if you weigh more than a wet Keira Knightly.
