Dare to be different with some very modern and stylish reception and break-out  office furniture. It seems that many UK seating manufacturers are throwing out  their staid approach and are commissioning well known European Architects to come up with some funky new products for them.

Most use modern, light materials such as  aluminium, bright steel and glass to produce a fresh and vibrant atmosphere. Equally dynamic upholstery colours are selected to complete the picture. Your visitors get a better impression of your business and your staff are happier with their energetic environment.

Good lighting and vivid colours act as a stimulant for thought and improve energy levels. Many businesses are now turning to interior designers to help them achieve what is a delicate balance between inspirational and garish designs.

The value of quality break-out areas has been demonstrated many times over; employees get a chance  to discuss work aspects in an informal area away from their desks, and managers are finding that many innovative solutions to problems arise from such casual meetings. Staff turnover is reduced and employees enjoy a more social working atmosphere than before, and value this benefit far more than additional salary.

The days of dark and dingy rest areas with coffee stained furniture and cheap tables, are hopefully buried in the past for most forward thinking businesses.

Many businesses have always found it difficult to quantify staff contentment and efficiency, and have therefore struggled with spending more than deemed necessary in this respect.  Various research has found that a large percentage of staff, once they reach a comfort threshold, do not value salary as the most important reason to work.

Being appreciated for what they do, a decent working environment, job satisfaction, good relations with fellow employees, and a social atmosphere, are all listed and extremely important motivators for modern employees.

And the foundation to all of these motivators is a decent working environment, comfortable workstations, decent quality operator chairs, and well designed meeting and relaxations areas.

Some very large businesses understood this concept many years ago, to the extent that some even have huge informal informal areas with soft seating and televisions, reading areas, coffee areas with waiter service (all free of course). Staff are encouraged to use these informal areas for their own meetings, and for meetings with customers or suppliers. The result is a casual, energetic environment full of satisfied employees.
