We only just looked away for a few minutes and it seems that 2014 is already upon us.
All those plans we had, are still not much further ahead than when we first thought of them.
And , as we all know, each year comes and goes at a faster speed than the previous one, meaning that we are less likely to get even what we got done last year, done this year.
So more than ever proper planning is essential to get the best out of your time. Simple plans with identifiable final goal and staging posts. Technology seems to make things change even faster so the only way to keep up is to keep things simpler and simpler. Take Google and Seach Engine Optimisation for example.
It has taken much of last year just to work out what has been going on with the many Google algorithm changes. Many businesses have suffered , and many search engine optimisation companies have called up offering another unique solution to our expected predicament.
Another effect of the recession which we have seen is that lots of the really cheap office furniture offers have disappeared from the internet.
This also seems to be the case for other stuff usually bought through on line shops or on Ebay.
It does seem strange that in this recession the cheap stuff which was abundant in the boom, has suddenly vanished. Why is this the case, as you might expect demand for the cheapo stuff to increase when money is tight.
If you delve into this a little deeper the answers become quite obvious.
Although there seems to be some respite in some areas of the UK, the winter weather is still with us and continuing to cause many problems for everyone.
Our office furniture fitters have been having real problems meeting their delivery schedules, not just because of the extra time it takes to get round, but because when they do finally get there the person who ordered the desks or chairs hasn’t made it to work.
But whilst listening to our fitters moaning about how difficult driving a van load of heavy office furniture in 20 cm of snow is, they have come up with sometips which may be of use to you.
Apart from the standard ones of taking enough outdoor clothing as if you are walking to work, and making sure you have water and snacks on board, ( plus an app on your iphone which points you to the nearest Macdonalds)they also have the following to say:-
If you drive a 4 x 4 please remember that you probably have tyres which are primarily designed for dry weather and high speed grip. So you may have more traction (ability to pull away in slippery conditions) but you wont have more grip ( ability to stop) if the road is icy or covered in snow.
The added traction from 4 wheel drive may make you feel more confident than you should be, resulting in you travelling faster than you should.
If you want more grip then you need to get tyres which are specially made for snow and ice.
Whilst our main business is supplying office furniture, we try to offer as much advice and information on our website, in the hope that it might help our current and potential customers!.
