These days the office buzzword is flexibility. Hot desking, break out areas, mobile pedestal garages, flip top and folding tables, are all words most modern businesses understand. They mean adaptable work environments, which can change to suit what’s needed next week, not next year.

We have come a long way since offering mobile pedestals as a flexible alternative to fixed pedestals, Moving the pedestal out from under the desk gives you more room if you are training someone for example, or provides a handy additional temporary worktop when sorting or researching old files.

Meeting room furniture has also come a long way since the big heavy boardroom table.  Lightweight flip top tables on lockable castors make light work of reconfiguring meeting rooms in minutes, and can be done by any member of staff.

Folding and stackable chairs , along with meeting furniture trolleys make it quick and easy to clear rooms for buffets, or fill them with chairs for seminars.

Over the years we have seen training and meeting rooms getting smaller and smaller.
The need to fit more people in and have more meeting rooms, has meant that offices are constantly being reconfigured to meet these demands.

Which is why we have added to our range of meeting tables which are available from stock, a smaller version of our popular and well priced barrel shaped meeting table.

This new table looks exactly like its bigger brother, but is slightly shorter at  two metres long and only one metre wide ( at its widest point) .

The flat ends of the table are eighty centimetres, which is also slightly less than its bigger brother.

And, provided you are careful about which meeting chairs you choose, this table can still seat up to 8 persons.

If you are looking to change the layout of your existing office or are moving to a new location then having someone to help with your office furniture layout is valuable help indeed.

Most office  furniture dealers will be able to help you with at the very least some basic two dimensional drawings which will give you an idea of what can be fitted into your office space, but if you are not used to working with flat line drawings then it is sometime very difficult to visualise what your new workspace is going to look like.

CHW have been based a few miles from Colchester for  over seven years now and are proud to have a large number of local customers who have bought desks and chairs from us for their Colchester offices.

Whilst we offer a national delivery installation service for our whole furniture portfolio from one desk to a bespoke reception counter, it is always a pleasure to deal with local customers who live only a few miles from our head office, just outside Colchester.

The time saved travelling such a short distance means that we can spend more time on producing 3D renditions, and it is much easier to take along a desk or office chair samples for our customers to try out.

Colchester is one of the oldest towns in the UK, and the diversity of the buildings creates some interesting challenges for business furniture planning. 

Modern reception areas and meeting rooms need plenty of space to look their best, and some of the rooms in the ancient Colchester buildings are really not suitable for contemporary furniture.

Also many modern office furniture ranges are man made light wood finishes on an aluminium frame, which really does not suit some of the older offices.

However, within our range we do have a good selection of traditional styled desks and executive chairs which perfectly suit some of the older properties in Colchester. Plus we are able to manufacture to customers own design in a wide range of wood veneers and other materials which might compliment the décor of the building.

Currently we do not have an office furniture showroom in Colchester, but do have many visitors to our ones in Reigate and Central London. These have proved to be very successful in allowing our customers to  see and feel the quality of our furniture ranges and our longer terms plans do include to have a significant display of office desks, chairs and storage items displayed in a central Colchester location, which we feel will greatly benefit us and our local customers.

Despite the Azurea counters look and feel of a bespoke and therefore expensive reception counter, the pricing is extremely competitive, even for a modular system.  The detailing in the front panels and the frosted glass  reception counter tops give this range a stylish appeal mostly found in much more expensive reception systems.

Deciding on what will fit your office space is a daunting task which is best left to a professional office furniture dealer. Whilst you can download a basic drawing package from the internet, these will at best only contain generic furniture shapes and will not be able to show you what is available in the market today. 

You need to call on the experience and expertise of someone who works in the industry and has resolved similar problems to yours, many times before.

Many offices nowadays suffer from excessive levels of noise, caused by a variety of factors, some of which can be easily addressed.

We have produced a questionnaire which allows us to numerically evaluate your noise problem and give you a score as to how effective our solutions will be.

In the past the biggest problem with paying for a quieter office was that it was difficult to quantify what sort of improvement you might expect for your investment. Acoustic Wall Panels

Sound absorbing wall panels are an excellent option, particularly when combined with absorptive ceiling systems and other acoustic  furniture systems.
They have a lower absorption rating than ceiling panels. Nevertheless, they provide an excellent way of reducing reverberation, particularly in areas where other options such as screens, dividers and wall art would be inappropriate.
Reducing the reverberation time is not the only bonus to using these panels. They may also prevent the formation of annoying flutter echoes which often occur between parallel reflective walls. Continue reading »
