long line of back-to-back desks. They have a number of advantages over traditional desk systems, including the following:

Shared Legs

The structure of a bench desk systems usually means that you can start with a four-leg starter unit, and then add 2-leg add-on units to make the run of desks, finally finishing with a four-leg unit. Also you can often place 2 or more people on a single four-leg desk. Together with a back-to-back configuration, this means that a single four-leg desk structure can accommodate four people.

Cable Management

Bench desks systems either use a central cable trough which is big enough to carry and hide a multitude of cables, or there are even some systems which have a removable top with a cable trough underneath. This means that your can bring power, data and telephone cables directly to the work area in a convenient and tidy manner.

Optional Extras for Bench Desks

One of the most common optional extras for bench desk systems are privacy screens. These can be made of acrylic or fabric-covered board and are used to separate individual work areas. They can also be made of acoustic foam material if noise is a particular problem, but this can be a very expensive option. Privacy screens can be used in the central are between the face-to-face desks and they can also be used along the depth of the desk surface to create a private work area.

Another common optional extra for bench desk system is the tool bar and various accessories. The toolbar can be a stand-alone item or can fixed to privacy screens. They can be used to hang LCD monitors, telephone stands, filing trays etc and are very effective at providing a tidy and efficient work area.
