Recently launched in the UK, the Oxygen chair changes our perception of the basic office chair.
The black moulded seat and back casing has gone to reveal a fresh, stylish design which offers both function and form.
Perfectly shaped to provide lumber and thigh support with an adjustable lumbar support as standard, this chair is destined to be a best seller for 2009.
The elegant satin black frame is complimented by a striking fabric choice, which can be an individual as you are, as there are over 100 colours to choose from.
The chair has been ergonomically designed to provide the correct support for continued use, and gas rams and mechanisms are rated for higher than average weights and usage.
The back rest is available in an upholstered fabric finish, or an optional black or white mesh.
Another important design feature is that the seat tension adjuster is at the side of the chair, rather than underneath. This is an importance feature as it allows the user to alter the tension whilst sitting comfortably. This feature is not usually found on chairs at this price level.
- High or medium back versions
- Fabric, or transparent mesh backrest in black or white
- Adjustable lumbar support
- Side tension adjustment
- Seat Height Adjustment
- Chrome Adjustable armrests (height and width)
- Black or Chrome 5 star base
In addition to the high or medium backed operator chair there is a matching visitor or meeting chair which has a cantilever base and nylon armrests. The flexible style of the frame and the flexible backrest make this one of the most comfortable meeting chairs in its price range.
Both chairs are manufactured and upholstered by Pledge Office Chairs, who are one of the major UK Chair manufacturers, and these chairs are available through their network of office furniture dealers. Delivery time is approximately 3 weeks, but is dependant on which fabric colour is chosen.
Expect to pay around £240 as a starting point for the operator chair and just over £200 for the visitor/meeting chair.
We have stressed the importance of choosing the correct operating mechanisms before, but we cannot emphasise enough how important it is to find the budget for a good quality synchronomic operating mechanism, even if you have to reduce your budget in other areas. A badly designed operator chair can cause discomfort and pain, and could lead to long term damage. This can all be avoided by spending a few pounds extra, when you next replace your office chairs.
When you spread this extra cost over the expected life of you new chair ( and a better quality one will last longer that a basic cheap chair) the additional cost will be minimal , but the long terms benefits will be massive.
With regard to office seating you really cannot afford to buy cheap.
