Types of Racking Racking is typically used for the storage of large bulky items and in areas that don’t need to look particularly up market. As with most products there are different types of racking available for different applications and at the entry level there will be inexpensive light weight systems suitable for the storage of light items. More heavy duty racking systems are suited to industrial applications and wide span racking will generally be used for bulky items. Pallet racking is ideal where there goods arrive on pallets and these need to be moved by fork lift truck quickly to the storage area. Racking is usually supplied as starter and add on bays so determining run lengths is important to achieve the optimum price. Starter bays will be free standing as they comprise two uprights, whilst add on bays will only have one upright thus sharing the upright of the first bay.
