The heights of the pedestals have been designed to either fit under a desk unit, or attach to the end of a desking unit.

System drawer units in office furniture pedestals. The phrase is often used but not many people actually know what it means. A standard drawer will have a base and 4 sides and not much else. It will slide in and out, usually on a 2 section drawer runner, which means that the whole drawer does not completely clear the pedestal housing. You have to peer into the black hole at the back of the drawer to find your missing keys or memory stick. A system drawer on the other hand is usually found in a more sophisticated steel pedestal unit, and the drawer runners will usually be a 3 section telescopic mechanism, allowing the drawer unit to completely clear the housing. This does not mean it is a system drawer, but this advantage is usually found on system drawers as they are better thought out and better made. A system drawer will have drillings along the vertical side of the drawer, into which can be fitted sprung catch divider sections in a variety of sizes, to allow you to build whatever compartment sizes you require, throughout the whole of you drawer interior. This system makes better use of your drawer space and you can find everything you need, instantly.
