Desk shapes Office furniture shapes and sizes have evolved greatly over the last ten years and are to some extent now coming full circle. Before we all used computers typing was left to the secretary or typist and their desk would have a rectangular return added to one side to accommodate the typewriter. As computers became more common office furniture manufacturers developed one piece curved worktops that allowed larger monitors to be used comfortably by creating a greater distance across the corner. As flat screens have become more cost effective and are now used in most offices the need for these larger curved desks is reduced and we are finding that smaller rectangular desks are more than adequate. These changes have allowed the office furniture manufacturers to experiment with different shapes allowing more flexibility in the design of offices.
