HPC Coating for Desks HPC or High Protection Coating is a method of finishing boards for use in the manufacture of office furniture that provides an exceptionally hard wearing finish which is guaranteed for five years. A particle board produced from either medium density fibre board or chipboard is first covered with a thin sheet that has the surface design. This surface design may be a solid colour such as white or light grey or a wood finish such as Oak, Beech, Pear or many others. A second transparent sheet is then placed over the first and this is impregnated with a special resin, activated by heat which forms the incredibly hard wearing finish. A balancing sheet is used on the underside, again impregnated with this thermosetting resin and this prevents the boards from warping or losing their shape.
