Cupboard doors If you have decided to move to a systems filing cabinet because of the flexibility and efficiency it offers one also needs to decide on the style. This may be dictated by the other furniture already specified but there are important differences between cabinets. Side opening tambour doors are slatted doors that are split into two and slide sideways into the cabinet. The main advantage is that there are no doors opening into the room which allows more flexibility in planning the office space as corridor areas will not be affected by the doors. Side opening tambour doors have now replaced vertical tambours as the default door type because they take up less space in the cabinet and are far more reliable. Vertical tambours can use around 20cm of cabinet space for the door to roll up and had a tendency to break.
