Pedestals – steel or wood
Most office furniture ranges offer you a choice of steel or wooden ( MFC ) pedestals. In most cases the costs are very similar but there is a fundamental difference between the two in that the drawers of the steel pedestal are also steel, folded and welded in the factory. These offer superior strength over the MFC option, where the drawer base is usually a sheet material slotted into a rebate in the drawer sides. Invariably the runners used on a steel pedestal are 3 section against the more standard section, which means that more of the drawer is accessible when opened
