Office furniture – Wood and wood effect finishes Most manufacturers offer the more popular wood or wood effect finishes, either from stock or on a short delivery time. These are oak, beech, maple, cherry, and less commonly pear and apple. However there is no guarantee that the finishes are the same across different manufacturers. Each manufacturer will buy his wood finish board from a specialist supplier who decides what colour his finish will be. The customer should always ask for a wood finish sample before ordering, if they are trying to match an existing finish. To a degree it is easier with most wood veneers as it is possible to alter the colour with a darker stain.
